LADY ANNE is the sole mourner for KING HENRY THE SIXTH.  During a speech in which she laments his death, and that of his son – her husband, EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES – she also curses the man she holds responsible: RICHARD DUKE OF GLOUCESTER.

Towards the end of the speech, RICHARD appears and during a lengthy exchange, attempts to seduce her.  RICHARD is from the Yorkist family, and LADY ANNE from the opposing Lancastrian side.  Throughout the speech, she struggles to retain her anger at RICHARD’S actions, and eventually appears to capitulate to his manipulations.
