The former Queen, MARGARET, lurks in the palace, cursing those from the House of York who have replaced her and her Lancastrian family on the throne of England.  Her husband, KING HENRY the SIXTH and her only child PRINCE EDWARD of WALES have been killed by the Yorkist faction, and she has been reduced to loitering without purpose in the shadows.  In this scene, she attacks RICHARD DUKE of GLOUCESTER – who she holds almost solely responsible for their deaths – and his extended family, who did nothing to stop him.
